WeTransfer alternative Edgely Transfer

A WeTransfer alternative that never uploads your file

WeTransfer is the reflex for sending something large: upload it, share a link, hope the recipient opens it before it expires. Edgely Transfer moves the file directly from your device to another one on your network, so nothing is uploaded, no link expires and nobody imposes a size ceiling.

Where WeTransfer may suit you better

WeTransfer solves a problem Edgely Transfer does not: sending a file to somebody you have never met, on the other side of the world, who only has to click a link. There is no relay here today, so both devices have to be able to reach each other.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Can I send a file to someone in another country?

Not with Edgely Transfer today. It moves files between devices that can reach each other, typically on the same network, which is what keeps the file off every server. A cross-network relay is planned; until it ships, a cloud service is the right tool for that case.

Which platforms does Edgely Transfer run on?

Windows, macOS and Linux on the desktop, and Android and iOS on the phone. Devices form a "Device Ring": pair once with a PIN or a QR code and files move directly between them over Wi-Fi, discovered on the local network, encrypted end to end with TLS 1.3 and perfect forward secrecy.

Do I need an account or a cloud service to send files?

No account, and no cloud. Transfers are direct, device to device, on your own network, so nothing is uploaded anywhere. There is no relay today either: both devices have to be able to reach each other. A cross-network relay is planned and is not available in any plan.

What does the free tier include?

Sending files to a device is free, together with the Device Ring, the file explorer, clipboard sync and seven days of transfer history. Pro, at 9 euros a year, adds transfers to and from shared folders, resumable transfers and unlimited history. It is also included in Edgely Guard (39 euros a year) and in the Edgely Suite (89 euros a year).

Send it, do not upload it

Edgely Transfer moves files straight between your own devices, with no link to expire and nothing left on a server.
