ShareDrop alternative Edgely Transfer
ShareDrop is a neat WebRTC trick: open the same page on two devices and drag a file across. Edgely Transfer does the same job as an installed app, so transfers survive a sleeping laptop, start from the file manager, and keep a history you can read afterwards.

Where ShareDrop may suit you better
ShareDrop installs nothing, works from any browser, and can be self-hosted. For a transfer to a machine you will never see again, that is the better answer.
Questions
Yes. Edgely Transfer sends directly between devices that can reach each other, which is what keeps the file off every server. There is no relay today for two devices on different networks: a cross-network relay is planned and is not available in any plan.
Windows, macOS and Linux on the desktop, and Android and iOS on the phone. Devices form a "Device Ring": pair once with a PIN or a QR code and files move directly between them over Wi-Fi, discovered on the local network, encrypted end to end with TLS 1.3 and perfect forward secrecy.
No account, and no cloud. Transfers are direct, device to device, on your own network, so nothing is uploaded anywhere. There is no relay today either: both devices have to be able to reach each other. A cross-network relay is planned and is not available in any plan.
Sending files to a device is free, together with the Device Ring, the file explorer, clipboard sync and seven days of transfer history. Pro, at 9 euros a year, adds transfers to and from shared folders, resumable transfers and unlimited history. It is also included in Edgely Guard (39 euros a year) and in the Edgely Suite (89 euros a year).
Install Edgely Transfer on the two devices you move files between most, pair them once, and drag files straight from the file manager.
