DBeaver alternative Edgely Database Manager

A faster, native alternative to DBeaver

DBeaver is powerful, and it carries the weight of running on Eclipse and the JVM. Edgely Database Manager is a Rust and Flutter native app: seven engines behind one keyboard-first client, with schema and data comparison, a benchmark lab and an AI assistant built in.

Where DBeaver may suit you better

DBeaver reaches far more engines than seven, through generic JDBC drivers, and it is open source with a large plugin ecosystem. If your estate includes SQLite, Db2 today, or something unusual behind a JDBC driver, DBeaver will connect to it and Edgely will not.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Which database engines does Edgely Database Manager support?

PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB, Oracle, SQL Server, ClickHouse and MongoDB, each through a native driver, with DB2 coming soon. SQLite is not supported. Every engine that ships is in the free tier for personal use: there is no paid edition that unlocks a connection.

Can I tunnel through an SSH bastion?

Yes, natively. Add the bastion to the connection profile and Edgely opens the tunnel automatically before connecting.

Can I bring my DBeaver connections across?

Yes. Edgely Database Manager reads DBeaver JSON exports, as well as pgAdmin, MySQL Workbench, Oracle SQL Developer and SQL Server Management Studio exports. A password the export stores and the importer can decrypt comes across into the encrypted vault; anything it cannot read is typed in once.

Is Edgely really free for personal use?

Yes. Edgely Console and Edgely Database Manager are free and complete for personal use: every feature unlocked, no time limit, no nag screens, no account needed. A paid licence is required when a company uses them for work.

Does Edgely run on macOS, Windows and Linux?

Yes, natively on all three. The Rust core compiles to native binaries and the Flutter UI is hardware-accelerated, so the same build runs on macOS (Intel and Apple Silicon), Windows 10 and 11, and Ubuntu, Debian, Fedora or Arch. A mobile companion ships on Android and iOS.

Can I import my existing servers?

Edgely Console imports MobaXterm session exports (.mxtsessions), Remote Desktop Manager files (.rdm, .xml or .json) and Edgely's own .econ, .evlt, .efull and .eset exports. Other tools are typed in once for now. A MobaXterm or Remote Desktop Manager file brings the hosts, ports, users and folders, never the passwords those tools encrypt; Remote Desktop Manager's user names can also go into the vault, and an encrypted Edgely export or a password manager's CSV fills the vault directly. Whichever route you take, the credential lands in the encrypted vault on the device and is never uploaded.
