Where AirDrop may suit you better

Between two Apple devices AirDrop is still the shortest path: it is in the share sheet, it needs no app, and it uses Bluetooth to find a device that is not on your Wi-Fi. Edgely Transfer needs both devices on the same network and the app installed on each.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Which platforms does Edgely Transfer run on?

Windows, macOS and Linux on the desktop, and Android and iOS on the phone. Devices form a "Device Ring": pair once with a PIN or a QR code and files move directly between them over Wi-Fi, discovered on the local network, encrypted end to end with TLS 1.3 and perfect forward secrecy.

Do I need an account or a cloud service to send files?

No account, and no cloud. Transfers are direct, device to device, on your own network, so nothing is uploaded anywhere. There is no relay today either: both devices have to be able to reach each other. A cross-network relay is planned and is not available in any plan.

What does the free tier include?

Sending files to a device is free, together with the Device Ring, the file explorer, clipboard sync and seven days of transfer history. Pro, at 9 euros a year, adds transfers to and from shared folders, resumable transfers and unlimited history. It is also included in Edgely Guard (39 euros a year) and in the Edgely Suite (89 euros a year).
