mRemoteNG alternative Edgely Console

An mRemoteNG alternative that is not Windows only

mRemoteNG has served Windows admins well for years as a tabbed, multi-protocol manager. Edgely Console keeps that idea, one window for every connection type, and runs natively on macOS and Linux too, with its own renderers and an encrypted vault.

  • An encrypted vault rather than a configuration file holding credentials
  • Docker, Kubernetes and Proxmox panels included
  • Free for personal use, every feature unlocked

Where mRemoteNG may suit you better

mRemoteNG is free, open source and free for commercial use as well, and it embeds the Windows RDP control that Windows admins already trust. On a Windows-only estate, with a licence budget of zero, that combination is hard to argue with.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Can I bring my mRemoteNG connections over?

Not as a file today. Edgely Console imports MobaXterm .mxtsessions exports, Remote Desktop Manager files and its own exports, so mRemoteNG hosts are added by hand once. Their passwords are added in Edgely and stored in the encrypted vault on the device, and an encrypted Edgely export moves them to your other machines.

Is Edgely really free for personal use?

Yes. Edgely Console and Edgely Database Manager are free and complete for personal use: every feature unlocked, no time limit, no nag screens, no account needed. A paid licence is required when a company uses them for work.

Does Edgely run on macOS, Windows and Linux?

Yes, natively on all three. The Rust core compiles to native binaries and the Flutter UI is hardware-accelerated, so the same build runs on macOS (Intel and Apple Silicon), Windows 10 and 11, and Ubuntu, Debian, Fedora or Arch. A mobile companion ships on Android and iOS.

Can I import my existing servers?

Edgely Console imports MobaXterm session exports (.mxtsessions), Remote Desktop Manager files (.rdm, .xml or .json) and Edgely's own .econ, .evlt, .efull and .eset exports. Other tools are typed in once for now. A MobaXterm or Remote Desktop Manager file brings the hosts, ports, users and folders, never the passwords those tools encrypt; Remote Desktop Manager's user names can also go into the vault, and an encrypted Edgely export or a password manager's CSV fills the vault directly. Whichever route you take, the credential lands in the encrypted vault on the device and is never uploaded.

Keep the mRemoteNG workflow, on every platform

One tabbed window, every protocol, and a vault instead of a credentials file. Free for personal use on macOS, Windows and Linux.
